Has this become the "Looking for Love" forum or is it still the "Joining the Navy" forum?

We have universities, where men go to become great thinkers. They have no more brains than you have. But they have one thing you haven't got: a diploma.

Depends on the couple/their ratings/etc. I won't BS you, it's not easy either way. Some people will say to never date or marry someone who is serving as well, but there are plenty of couples out there who have worked this out(I and my DH, my sis and her DH have been a bit more successful in the co-location thing than we were, but she's not in a critical rating) I believe gonavyjdi met her DH in the Navy too.......

There are plenty of civilian/military marriages that have failed as well. It's up to both people to work it out and work on the relationship. I would totally reccomend that no matter what your choice, do a deployment BEFORE you get married, so you can see if you can survive the stress of seperation.

That said, I personally wouldn't date someone in my workcenter (most ships have policies against dating entirely, but, from what I've seen it's rarely followed unless it's effecting work), or worked with on a regular basis. Luckily DH and I never actually worked together, or I probably would have wrung his neck at some point from seeing him 24-7. lol. Also, you have to be careful abolut fraternization policies.

So I'm guessing Nuke relationships have a pretty good success rate?

I am probably an exception, however, my wife and I met in A School and married after 6 weeks in order to receive orders to the same homeport.
38 years later, we are happily growing old together Wink

Marry a woman you love... I think you'll know when she comes along and I don't think the job she has should make much difference (OK, within reason Smile)

I knew my wife 5 weeks to the day when we got married and as they say on the show In Living Color, "We're stilllll together" over 25 years later.

Why rule on or the other out.
When the right one comes along you will know it, wether they or military or civilian.
You may end up lookin for love in the wrong places. Just relax enjoy life and love will turn up sooner or later.

I'm with you here Boats. Roll Eyes

If looking for love is your concern about joining the Navy then you really need to check your priorities.
