Hello everyone, I've been thinking about enlisting in the Navy and signing up for the CTN position. I'm 34 years old and already in the field for IT. I don't own a house nor do I have a family to raise but I do have debts (cars and credit cards). And of course I will have to quit my job when I go into basic. So after the pros and cons the biggest con is: while in basic, will I still be able to keep up with my debts (even if I pay the minimum)?
Thanks in advance.

Try using the find feature. There are several threads that have talked about this. I myself joined when I was 27. I survived boot camp. Actually it was pretty easy I thought.
I joined at 29 and went through Dive school and EOD school at 33 so age is not a big deal if you can handle it. Joining the military was the best thing I could've ever done. I was a web designer before joining. We can't tell you if you can handle your debt or not. You can look up how much you'll be paid and get an idea from there. There's a lot of questions...are you married? Also, I believe CT's have to get a pretty high security clearance, so that could be an issue with debt to income ratio. Good luck.
You might try talking with your lenders and telling them that you plan on joining the Navy. Maybe they will lower your payments or work some sort of deal with you.

Don't put the cart in front of the horse.
Are you qualified to join the Navy? Are you qualified for CTN? Is CTN available? Is it available to you before you turn 35?
All of these things are much more important than what you can or cannot do while you are in boot camp.
