Hello, im currently enlisted in the Navy but still in DEP for Master at Arms. And i have a few questions.

1)I would really like to volunteer for individual augmentee and go to overseas. What are my odds of getting, specifically after A school?

2)I would also like to try for the rifle/pistol marksmanship ribbons but i do not know of when or how to obtain these. any help with this would be appreciated.

3)This one ive had answered before but any more input would be good. I really want to go for K9 unit later down the road. Ive been told get to E4 and then reenlist into that C school. is there a faster route.

Thank you

Once you reach E5 your chance is slim to none to get into the program...Trust me I came in to be a handler and made E5 in 2 years and was told direct by the detailer that I wouldnt be looked at for the program...BTW this is a program you have to do some groundwork for..just making E4 and reenlisting wont get you this program so whoever gave you that info was incorrect

Thank you

Hopefully this helps a bit...

Nope...totally not what im saying...

When you have an opportunity a few days into your class having started make the time to request speaking to your class mentor. Ask them about the K9 program and what you can do to get into the program. Just realize they are always looking but you had better be a hard charger, cause 0 problems and be there to be an MA and not to hang out with the opposite sex/party/etc. This doesnt mean you will get into the program out of 'A' school but you might get the shot. Don't pester them about it and if when your not classed up if assigned to working parties ask if they need anyone to help clean at the MWD schoolhouse(as its also at lackland if you go to 'A' school there and not damneck).

Good Luck...volunteer for everything they offer...show them you can work hard and stay out of trouble and you just might get the opportunity.

Dog handlers sea shore rotation is a bit different...obviously no ships/air squadrons and for the most part NECC commands.....Sea duty usually is either GSA/IA tours or overseas shore commands but there is a few MWD sea duty where you stay in a certain area and train when not deployed and then deploy wherever they need you...Hard to say much more as there is other things out there for MWD handlers but not that I can go into on here.
