So I know that my husband and 2 children will receive BAH while I'm in bootcamp.
My question is: What happens when I go to A School? Since the Navy will be paying for me to be in a barracks and also paying for my food expenses (among other things)...will my Husband and 2 children still be able to get my housing allowance? They obviously can't move to a base with me until after A school so I'm just trying to figure out how much money we need to save up before I leave in January.

hEY, I ALSO HAVE A QUESTION i WAS TOLD ONCE YOU GET TO A DUTY STATION YOU LOSE YOUR BAH AND YOU GO FIND A HOUSE OR APT AND THE NAVY PAYS FOR YOUR RENT AND ALL UTILITIES #1 IS THAT TRUE ? #2 IS IT THE SAME FORMULA AS BAH OR IS THERE A DIFFERENT SCALE ? I AM MARRIED BUT KIDS ARE GROWN THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL INFO.
you get BAH, period. if you live in Base housing ALL of your BAH is taken back via allotment. this may cover all or only part of your utltities.
if you choose to rent something Under BAH in town you can use the leftover to pay for utltiies, cable, phone, internet, whatever. if not, you pay out of pocket .
when OVERSEAS.. you get OHA if living on the economy. it is the EXACT amount of rent up to your authorized ceiling. a seperate allowance is provided for utilities that may not cover the actual expenses especially with conversion rates.
