I leave on July 15th for basic.. which is good since others are being pushed out till 2010. All I know is I am going to basic.. then pensocola for A school.. what happens after? I mean I know the Navy is not going to have me working on bombs with only 4-6 weeks training..and I am female.. I heard it was really labor intensive.. is that true?

You better get rid of the I'm a princess attitude.

And they wouldn't give you a job if you weren't allowed to do it. There are female EOD's out there.

BTW-moving this to Joining. Where it belongs.

The Navy's not going to have you doing anything after only 4-6 weeks training. Basic alone is 8 weeks. After that, you have 14 weeks of diver training and 41 weeks of EOD training. THEN, you get to go out in the field and blow stuff up.

And as Catherine said, check the princess at the door. There's no room for someone with entitlement issues and inflated egos in the Navy and especially not in Special Warfare.

Ok and what do you have for experience?? You are posing a question about dental screening at MEPS, but think you know about the training for AO?

AO...Avaiation Ordanceman
Basic terms they handle the ordinance that goes on the aircraft. It has nothing to do with the special forces like you think here. It has nothing to do with diver. Try keeping your answers to what you actually know.

OP, if your schooling is 4 to 6 weeks, then yes, you will be working on bombs after 4 to 6 weeks of training. If the Navy determines that is the amount of training it takes to do the job, then by all means you will be expected to do it after that time.

Once you do get to a command though, you will be under a UI (under instruction) basis until you get your qualifications.

As for labor intensive...this floors me, you are leaving in a couple weeks for basic and you are wondering if the job you are going into is labor intensive and you are concerned now? Why did you not ask this stuff earlier? So what if I tell you the job is extremely labor intensive...are you going to quit?

I don't know much about the rating, but have seen those in the rating physically working, so expect to get dirty. As for the "princess" attitude, the best thing you can do for yourself is to suck it up and get dirty along with your shipmates. It does not take long to make opinions about people and you don't want to be known for being a slacker.

Makes you wonder just how many questions on the PC section of the ASVAB that Treima answered correctly.

Remember Treima.....eyes and ears open (with brain engaged)...mouth shut.

Good job getting rid of that line in your post. You will primarily be a sailor and you have a job to do. Being one of "those girls" gains you resentment from those who have to pick up the slack (guys and girls alike). Just something to think about now.

there are a few AOs on here who can help you out, one who just graduated the school and can give you a good recent view of what it's like.

read through the forums for some info on AO, theres not much though.

Good luck

edit, not much in the joining forum. Found this one for you http://forums.military.com/eve...081001#4860072081001

Alright here it is I was a AO on the uss jfk for four years. I was G3 division. I was in charge of the bomb builds. You do not have to go to school for AO i did not i was an undesignated airman and i was just put in the divison and i liked it so much that i striked for AO. As far as being physical it depends on if you are going to be in a squadron or ships company. Squadron you work your but off and it is very physical you are loading 500 to 2000 pound bomb by hand or a hoisting system. Long hours when you are out to sea. As far as ships company it can be physical depending on what division you are in. if you are in the division i was in then it can get physical because you are building and storing ammunition. There is a lot more to the rate than people think. you are not just building bombs and assembling missiles there are a lot of other things that we do. so good luck with your training and you will learn the phrase IYAOYAS. means If You Aint Ordnance You Aint S#@&. good luck

To the OP: Good Luck. I never rode on a Target just followed them. Wink Bird farms look really pretty with crosshairs on them. Dvlish

Question for Treima: Looking at your profile you state considering joining but have E1 in your profile. It is either one or the other. And I think you are the one that should put the attitude in check.

tremia-I'll be nice. Stand down. It's just easier and a trait that will serve you will later.

going back and editing the post over an hour after the fact to come back at boats, not a good idea.

This is off the topic. Please stick to the subject at hand, the AO rating.

She is doing that all over the forums(deleting her posts).

Makes replies to some of her posts seem totally out of left field.

Cat, this is the reason I have always said that the ability to "Edit" ones own post should not be availible for more that 30 to 45 minutes.

Every time the techoturds supposedly update the forums, any time to edit that may have been set by the Mods, goes out the window.

I have noticed that even on some of my posts that hell I can go back to them DAYS later and edit or delete.

Which is what the person in question did.
