Ok first I would like to start by saying if this is in the wrong place, please let me know where it should be and I will move it there.

Ok. I’m in DEP; I have been there for 6 months, I’m going to be moving for where I enlisted (Tennessee) to Massachusetts. However when I told my recruiter this, he said that I would have to come back for the last month before I ship out (March 9) to do my shipping paper work and to order my plane ticket.

Is there a way I can just transfer my paper work to a recruiter in Massachusetts and just ship out from there? I don’t want to come back down to Tennessee for one month just to ship out???

All comments are welcome. I just need to figure this out before I start packing.

So the courtesy shipping must me approved before I can move or can I move as this is being approved? Will I be required to do anything or is this all on my recruiter? I’m more than willing to help out where I can. My only fear is that doc’s will get lost as I’m moving from one NRS to another NRS. Even though I have a signed contract, I will not loose my job right? I just want to make shore I don’t loose anything whether it be doc’s, job, promo’s anything before I do this. I’m way to new in the military to know any of this info. How long does a “normal” courtesy ship take to get approved?

On the bottom it said a courtesy ship does not release the RinC of the responsibility to maintain contact with the DEPper. is that saying my recruiter here will still be calling me and will still be calling him, because that will be fine for me, he is a good guy.

RinC is the recruiter in charge of that recruiting station. Ask your recruiter if he is the RinC and if not then ask to speak to him about this issue.
