Hi,

I searched this site and googled and could not find an exact answer. I took the ASVAB practice test and I am not sure how to calculate my total score, or the scores for the particular sections. I understand I need to add up the individual line scores? I tried adding up each section of the ASVAB but that does not seem right. Do I take the percentage I scored right from each section, weigh each of them, then add them up? How do I come up with a total score? Sorry if I am a bit confusing and I appreciate any help you all can offer.

There is a section of Military.com on the ASVAB test, and you can read about it here: "http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/l/blafqtscore.htm" (cut and paste without the quotes).

If you are serious about joining the Military, you should get an ASVAB practice or review book at a book store, or library. Read all the info, and take all the practice tests. The higher your scores, the more jobs you qualify for.

Not sure on the pratice test, but on the real one you (VE * 2) + AR + MK to get your overall score.... If you want, I can put it your scores thru my Excel rating sheet and tell you what ratings your eligible for. Post them here, or add me as a friend and Email them to me.

Hey before I continue on, what is your overall AFQT score? It's located near the bottom of the sheet. In my example the score is 39...

The practice test scores from this site do not convert to actual ASVAB test scores.

The screening test that the recruiter gives you will compute an estimated AFQT for you.

Stec,
Got a question. How do you figure out a AFQT using the ASVAB scores? (Yes, I know the AFQT is listed on the ASVAB score sheet, but suppose it's not?)
The formula posted everywhere on the internet is: 2VE + AR (Arithmetic Reasoning) + MK (Mathematics Knowledge).
So let say we use the below example, it would be:
2*VE = 2*58 = 116
+ AR = 59
+ MK = 56
Total would be 116 + 59 + 56 = 231

So how do they get the 80 score when I'm getting 231? Thanks for any help...

Example.

There is a "norming" table where the raw # is used to find the percentile score.
