I was PDQ to re-enter the Navy due to a missed follow up on a shoulder surgery i had in the Navy prior to seperating. I was DQ by the medical record review doctor is there anything that i can do to get DQ overturned?

If you were PDQ'd by the MEPS Doc, I believe the only thing you can do is try to get a waiver from BUPERS (remember it's MEPS, not necessarily The Navy, that DQ'd you). Ask the Navy Liaison at MEPS if you went and got cleared by a civilian doc/surgeon if they would consider requesting a waiver, or if it is pointless.

Get a full exam from an orthopedic guy and submit it. With an RE-1 you should be considered for enlisting but understand your chances are slim due to the Navy not taking many priors.
Check out the discussions on prior service by entering it in the find feature above your first post. Theres a lot of information there.

Also i recently seperated in Jan 09 so its not like they would have to retrain me all over again our re issue me all new gear. Also i think its stupid that i got DQ for not having one single piece of paper when i gave them 4 months worth of notes.

I was just wondering how can i be disqualified from the military because i missed a follow up? My range of motion with me shoulder is normal and i can pass the physical with no problem but this one doctor who says no and it stops at that. There has to be some other way to get his ruling over turned.

It's all about the paperwork. At MEPS(I am still assuming this is where you got dinged) the goal is to probe as deep as they can to ensure that no liability can lead back to tehm for the "rubber stamp". They will ding you for the smallest insiginificant thing and let the actual branch of service decide if it is waiverable or not, especially in tight times like these, where the services can be ultra picky.

I myself am waiting on a medical waiver back from Bupers to get back in the Reserves for a congentital condition (umbilical Hernia..ie I have an "outtie" belly button and always have) that I had both times I went in, Active and Reserves, that never got knocked. But this time I actually had to get a surgical consult to get paperwork saying that it wasn't anything that required surgery...go figure.

You got to be kidding me that the dumbest reason to need a waiver. Also i dont even think my recruiter put a request in for a waiver. I had this surgery while i was still active and if there making such a big deal why didnt i get a medical discharge? I looked at the range of motion req. and i exceed them all. You would think they would want me back in i was a BU2 with 2 warfare pins no NJP at all in 7 years and ive been out for 7 months and ive been trying to get back in since Mar.

You should talk to the Navy Liaison Chief at MEPS or the LPO/LCPO at the recruiting station; you could have a green recruiter, or there may be no way around it. If you are willing to get cleared by a civ ortho, suggest it to them to see if they can put in a waiver. I know getting back active for priors in nearly impossible right now, but it might shake out in the near future especially in your case.

Basically you were still IN the Navy when you missed your follow up ewxam, yes? that means they can ding you for failing to obey orders( you were ordered to have a follow up exam and you didn;t).

PS who do NOT need waivers can't get back in./ you DO need a waiver.

They want a paper trail; that is the only thing that will/would be satisfactory as far as MEPS is concerned. Last piece of paper in your record says you needed a follow up prior to separation, that's what they want.

I still suggest you talk to the people I mentioned above, or throw in the towel.
