Hi there,
I began talking with a recruiter last April and I'm currently scheduled for a second visit to MEPS next week (8/25). Due to ACL and Arthroscopy procedures performed on my right knee on 1995 and 2001, during my first visit to MEPS the Doc made a recommendation for a waiver. After waiting for almost 2 months the Navy wants to have one of their docs to take a look at my knee. I turn 35 next April, so I'm running out of time, seen that a lot a folks are in DEP for months. I'm a college grad from a Brazilian university and my recruiter was just informed that I should speak with an Officer Recruiter. I may have a chance to do that while I am at MEPS. I just want to have you guys and girls to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. It has been a long ride so far (Lots of waiting) and I hope everything turns out OK and I can swear in soon. Take Care! |

Well, because it had been more than 30 days since my first visit to MEPS, I had to strip down again and wait in that cold room for weight and hight measurements. Then I saw the MEPS doc again for quick physical check.
Waited around until 8:00 am to go to the orthopedist. Once there, waited more to get xrays taken....then waited more to see the doc. After the consult was given a sealed envelop with the doc's initial report. I went back to MEPS and saw the doc there again, he opened the envelop and told me that the xray looked normal and he was going to write a report and send it to the navy for consideration. Boy what a long day! I also spoke with the Officer Recruiter and I found out, I'm not eligible for entering as an officer. But I'm eligible for enlisting as an E3. |

Well, after two trips to MEPS and a few months waiting for a medical waiver decision...I'm relieved to say that it was approved!
I meet with my recruiter tomorrow, to give him a financial statement. I've seen some posts about medical waivers and I have to believe they look at waivers on a case-by-case. I'm 34, married with kids....so go figure!! |
