Hello... let me first briefly explain my prior situation before getting into the re-enlisting part.

I shipped off to boot camp on 06-24-08 and after a few weeks, I starting having a problem with my knee and ended up getting discharged over it. The physical therapist up there told me I had a torn ACL. I was finally discharged on 08-07-08 because of it.

When I got home I started looking into getting help from the VA because I couldn't afford the ACL surgery. I had to write a few letters explaining my whole situation, but I didn't really have any problems getting the VA to look at my case and help me out. They've helped a lot and are still helping.

After several trips to the VA, thorough examination and talking with the orthopedic surgeon at the VA, they said I do not have a torn ACL, just the muscle is very weak. He said I should be fine after about 6 weeks of Physical Therapy.

Now my discharge is RE-3E (Because they said I had the condition prior, but I never had any trouble prior) and clearly states on my discharge documents that if I have ACL surgery and wait 6 months to a year, I CAN re-enlist... Well since I don't need the ACL surgery and have talked with the orthopedic surgeon. He said I should be good to go back after the therapy.

I talked to my recruiter (same guy that got me in last time) and he told me that after I'm done with the therapy, I'll just need to get all of the medical documents and get those to him so he can fax them back to MEPS.

My main question is, would I have a chance at getting back in? I plan to just go into the reserves this time if I can, and just return back to my current job. If things work out, maybe later going active.

Anyone seen or heard of any similar cases?

I really just want to go back and get through it all this time.

Thanks,
Dave

with that RE code, it will be hard. anybody that needs a waiver is almost certain to get denied.

all you can do is submit whenthe time is right and hope for the best.
