I'm going to be signing up very soon in the DEP under an SO contract. I'm actually going up for MEPS this Monday and Tuesday. I've been able to get most of my questions answered by the recruiters, but there are still some things I'm curious about. I know that BUD/S is going to be a long and difficult journey, and I know that after all the SEAL training is completed you're assigned to a team. What I have been unable to find so far though is what really happens after that.
From what I've been able to figure out, SEALs are always "training", even after the training. But how does deployment work? From what I've inferred, SEALs aren't sent out on a ship like other people. Do they live at a military base and only leave for missions? I guess the just of what I am wondering is what is life in general going to be like once assigned to a SEAL team. I realize that a good portion of this information is classified, so I really don't expect a detailed account on a day to day schedule. As always, any information or advice is appreciated. |

Watch the SEAL shows on the Military channel. That will give you some idea. I've never known of a SEAL assigned to ship's company. However, I have been on a ship that transported a SEAL team for missions. What they did and what my ship did are classified so I can't provide you any additional information. |
