Think about what they have to do, and you can probably come up with the answer yourself.

Usualy people who ask questions such as that don't have the moxie to go for it. If you worried about something being hard it becomes impossible.

Sonny I'me not try to call you anything. I made a statement that has proven time and again to be true. It addressed your question in your first post.
If you want answers give us all the background for the question you asked. You just did that with your last post.
Since I was not a rescue swimmer I can't give you a whole answer. I know some of it but not by personel experience.

Well, that is a bit different than

Just the job description alone you would know that it not an easy goal to obtain. Such jobs do tend to have a high washout rate and that is good considering the nature of the job you are being tasked with. No one is saying you can't do it, but Gerry is right when people ask how hard something is, it weighs in the back of their mind. Instead of asking how hard the training is, how about what are the requirements for such a job?

Easy there cowboy. Gerry isn't calling you anything. If you are taking umbraqe from his comment, there must be a kernel of truth in it, huh? Like the old saying goes, if you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps, is the one that got hit.
You com eon here, and ask, let's be honest, a pretty lame, vague question. When someone comments on it, you insult one of our old timers(sorry Gerry, Big Grin). Not a good way to start off your mil.com 'career'

I agree with Billdawg on this one, lame question. Do you want it or not? If so, then why would it matter how hard it is? If it is what you want to do then do it and don't worry about how hard it is. Also, "hard" is a relative term. If you are a stellar athlete then it will be a cake walk. If you are a lazy, couch potato, french fry eatin, video game playing type person then get ready for a kick to the junk.

It isn't very hard. You do a ton of running, swimming, flutter kicks, and regular PT type stuff. If you are in pretty decent shape (i.e. can run 6 miles, can do over a hundred pushups and situps in 2 minutes, etc), you should have no problems. There were already a couple on my ship, but my Captain was pretty cool about letting anybody that wanted to take on extra responsibility to do so. Plus, the extra pay doesn't hurt.

One word of caution, get used to using flippers before you go to SAR swimmer school. Otherwise, your shins will be on fire and sore as hell.

This is actually an excellent question especially when trying to weigh youre chances in an important life decision in not only joining but becoming a rescue swimmer. As a rescue swimmer myself I fit the best shoes to answer youre question. The resue swimmer program for someone who is a good swimmer/runner is not hard at all. The best way you can test youreself is by meeting the following goals:

Mile and 1/2 run in under 11:00min
5oo meter swim in under 14:00min (freestyle)
perform a minimum of 6 pullups
perform a minimum of 50 pushups
perform a minimum of 60 situps

Meet these goals and you have pretty good chances/exceed these goals and you have really good chances.

Hint: They would test you mentally as well, by yelling at you and criticizing mistakes you make so suck it up. Also if you struggled through school you might get dropped on just not meeting academic requirements for this field.

Hey, I leave in 3 days for boot camp, and I have a AIRR contract. I was just wondering what is the longest distance run they will have me doing?
