Well, I went to MEPS today, set on obtaining the rating of RP. When I met the liason, he said RP was full until June, so I picked a new job, one that wasn't even on my "list." I decided to go with the AECF. I have also been given the option to go into the NUKE program. I've read up on both, but I was wondering (from ya'lls personal experience) which one is the better field. Thanks.

As a Nuke, I can only comment on What I know as a Nuke. Never went through AECF, so I have no reference point for comparrission.

So you have a two choices:
AECF -
FC (Fire Controlman)
ET(Electronics Technician)

or
Nuke -
EM (Electrician's Mate)
ET (Electronics Technician)
MM (Machinest Mate)

Frankly in my own opinion, I would go Nuke. The reason is two things
1. With the U.S. building alot of Nuclear power plants in the next 10 years, that job will be in great demand....
2. You say you wanted to be a RP (Religious Program Specialist) which makes you appear very religious. Frankly all the ET and FC I've ever met where a bunch of perve's. (THIS IS MY OWN OPINION)

In my opinion, RP's are the worst! When it comes to "swearing like a Sailor," RP's are the kings of kings on that one.

Already is. Hence the really high bonus caps to keep them in. Nukes are highly sought after not just by plants, but many other companies for their ability to learn quickly, problem solve, trouble shoot, and multi-discipline knowledge.

Not for nothing, nukes are awful (crass, vulgar) too......especially those sub ones! Wink!!

OP-I meant to say, good on you for exploring something different! Challenges are good. And the experience you gain may just make it worth your while! Big Grin! I know the "chance" I took on nuke (I wanted to be a cook) opened my eyes and helped me see something I hand't before.

You are a FC + "Every FC I met were Perve's" = You are a FC Perve too...you didn't deny it Big Grin....

Catherine, yea, I meant to say they will even be in GREATER demand than they are now. Right now they can't get enough Nukes.... Man, that job will even get higher pay than the high pay they get now....

Every guy is a little perverted, but I'm not as bad as most. Angel/Devil

The NUKE program is getting a little more interesting. From what I've been reading ET seems to be the one I'm most interested in. Can anyone give me any specifics about the EM, ET, or MM.

Sorry for being vague, codex. FC would be the branch that I would want to do as well. If you wanna give me some more info on that one, I'd appreciate it. Thanks all.

The find feature is your friend It has been discussed at length, as has the fact that you put in for one yet they decide for you around week 5 of boot. AECF is the same way. You don't know what you get until you get there.
