There is no specific score to qualify for HM, I've seen people score and still qualify with as low as a 32. The key is in the line scores, however, this is not the only qualification for HM. Talk with you recruiter about options, and the liklihood of HM being available. This rate has been in high demand for some time so it may not be an option. Go to MEPS with several jobs in mind that you would be willing to take.
so do u just add up VE+MK+GS and it has to equal 156 or how do u get it? my asvab scores are
GS 51; AR 51; WK 48; PC 55; MK 58; EI 59; AS 48; MC 47; AO 41 AND VE 51.
GT 102; CL 106; CO 106; EL 106; FA 105; GM 105; MM 103; OF 103; SC 108; ST 105.
WOULD I BE QUALIFIED FOR FMF CORPSMAN?!
The Recruiting Manual I am looking at says:
HM - VE + MK + GS = 146
HM (Dental) - VE + MK + GS = 149
or - VE + MK + CS = 153
In addition 5 year active obligation required.
The following remarks are pertinent:
Applicants must be informed that they will be assigned to duties involving direct patient care and clinical services and may be assigned to the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) for duty. Licensed physicians, dentists, nurses, or graduates of a medical, dental, or nursing school in any country are ineligible for this rating. No history of drug abuse or commission of offenses involving alcohol, narcotics, or other controlled substances with the exception of experimental or casual use of marijuana. Applicants must be of highest standards as requirements are strictly adhered to before accession into the HM community. Include all transcripts with records (used to determine subspecialties qualified for). Refer to Article 010608(Navy Recruiting Manual) for Dental Assistant training specifics.
See your recruiter for availability. And yes, add up your specific line scores for basic eligibility and compare to the requirements above.
WOW man thanks so much my VE + MK + GS = 160
i dont want dental lol but thanks man i actually am requesting FMF i wanna be attached to a Marine unit. So with that id be qualified if available?

ASVAB scores are only one part of the requirements. If you meet all the other quals and a slot is available you have a chance. However, if you ONLY want HM then make sure your recruiter knows. He may not be willing to send you to MEPS if you are job locked since there is a good chance that HM won't be available.
What ever manual you are "looking at" is wrong.
The line scores you posted aren't even close to accurate. BM1 posted the correct info above you.
mea culpa - cruitman vol IV on the net
I was an HM for 6 years. When I went to the recruiter there was no openings. So I stayed in DEP for 6 months until a slot opened. My line scores were high enough for nuke, but screw that lol. Anyway, you shouldn't have a hard time going FMF if that is what you want. I doubt you can get it in your contract, but there are plenty of people that would rather stay blue side so you shouldn't have an issue. It depends on needs of the Navy though. I know when I left Japan I wanted to go green side and there was no opening for a 3rd class PMT. I ended up having to go to San Diego instead (which wasn't that bad). I will say that if you are really wanting to go FMF stay a quad zero and do not pick a C school. You could still end up at a hospital working in a ward wiping ass, but that is the chance you take.
I got the info from NPC website.

Did'nt mean to start any disagreements, sorry.
No reason for you to be sorry - I was the dumb azz that thought I was looking at a current version of the CRUITMAN. Thanks for having the straight dope.
From COMNAVCRUITCOMINST 1130.8H Vol IV, Change 4. Chapter 1, Section 6, Page 10:
my AFQT score was of 47.
On my paper I see
I want to get a job in the aviation field, preferably AO with my line scores would I be eligible? If not what does could I get?

Christy that post your looking at is about three years old and maybe more. Check with your recruiter for the current qualifications.

You qualify for AO and not a lot more. ABE, AFH, ABH, BM, CS, EA, EN, GSM, MM, OS, PR, QM, SH and TM. Keep in mind that this is an unofficial list and a recruiter is your best source.
