I believe its 2 weeks might be more than that.

You can take it once a month; after the 3rd time, you'll have to wait 6 months. I don't know about their swimming qualification.

Simple swim qualifications -- don't drown. And they'll even teach you how to do that.

Seriously, as long as you don't panic, even if you can't swim when you join, you can pass the swim qual. Totally different answer to be a Navy diver or SEAL but you can find that with a little research on your part.
