My name is Jason Bradley, I am currently trying to elist in the Navy. I am just going to make it short and simple as possible. I took the ASVAB for the navy in June '08 (scored a 44), recruiter said since I have a GED and currently taking classes online stick it for two more months until I get my 15 credits or more and come back. I did we gather all the paperwork and faxed my college transcripts to be approved (btw finish with 17 credits). Waited about 4 days, and my recruiter said....oh they said it has to be in class credits, not online credits. But researched and resarched ( I even used the "Find" button and turns out some of you even said, "as long as it is an accredited school") nothing says anything about college credits has to be in class not online. Is there anything I can do about this, or am I just stuck in the wind. College was Devry online, Devry University the main branch itself is listed as an accredited school. Don't know if they view Devry online and Devry as two differnt things, but why would they. I need some info, if anyone can help me with my situation, especially any recruiters, can I fight this or should I start looking at other braches of service.
Thats the problem my recruiter didn't show or tell me anything. He acted like he didn't know anything until my transcript got evaluated. So is this pretty much the policy for all branches of service or can I actually use my online credits or are they useless when it comes to enlisting in the military.

MAYBE the Army will take them. They have more quotas (the most of all five branches) to fill than the Navy (which as you may or may not know is not in dire need of new recruits).
They won't make you a Tier 1 in the Army either. The individual services don't establish education codes for accession purposes; that's set by the DoD. Now, they might TAKE more Tier 2's than the Navy does right now, but those Tier 2's STILL have to get a 50 on the ASVAB to go active duty. Your best bet is to go on campus at the nearest community college and get those 15 credits. As long as you're enrolled and will complete 15 credits, you can DEP in as an 11M - which will make you a Tier 1 of equal status to an 11S (high school senior), but your ship date will be some time after the last day of your classes.
