Hi Smile

Im not sure if this goes here, but please, I need some information.

My husband is at Great Lakes Naval Base as an OSVET. They told him at MEPS that he was going straight to his A-School, and then, on the day he was supposed to leave, they told him he needed to go first, for 2 weeks, to Chicago to take a refresher course, and then, he will go to A-School.

My question is, if the process takes more than 2 weeks, will I be able to go visit him?

Please, any information you have about this course, let me know.

Thanks in advance!!

A worried wife

nope. he's in a truncated version of Navy Boot camp. you will NOT be able to visit before he reports to A school....and depending on the school.. not even then.

I agree with mrsjvb. However, I think this belongs in the Joining the Navy section, so I'm moving it there.

OSVETS go to TPU Great Lakes for up to 60 days and then to A-School. It will be more than 2 weeks. I am a NAVET and yes you can visit him at TPU. For goodness sakes, if he does not have duty, he leaves the base. TPU is processing to get paperwqork, pay started and do a minimal refresher of boot. Mainly Physical Training. You can go to Great Lakes and she him. He is not in BootCamp and TPU is somewhat laid back. Standing watches and working daily until the pay, uniforms and all classes are completed. He could have driven his own car to TPU.

I went thru TPU two years ago, you definetly can go visit him. It is all Admin, classes, and waiting for his school to class up. Not to repeat what the above poster said, but if he does not have duty there is nothing else going on.
