Im going to boot camp in a few months, just found out my mom was embarrassed to tell me she hasn't been taking care of my student loan and i have like 25 grand in bad debt because of school bills she hasn't been able to take care of like we agreed upon... Now I'm not blaming her or anything i know ultimately its my responsibility but she told me she would handle it until i got out of boot camp and could pay myself... What should I do? Can I get kicked out now? What will happen?

First, contact your creditors and see if you can get a deferral, although if you are $25K in arrears then this has probably been referred to a collection agency already.

Second, contact your recruiter and let him/her know that you are in arrears on your student loans.

Did you not notice all those collection letters and phone calls you have been getting over the years? I mean, really, I ended grad school with a huge amount of debt and my payments were only $400 per month so it would have taken me somewhere around six years to be $25K in arrears.

If they are student loans then by law they can be deferred for at least 6 months after graduation - meaning you don't have to pay them back until 6 months after you graduate from your college.

I am currently a CTT who is gonna ship soon in pretty much the same predicament; as long as you disclose the amount of loans you have to the Navy there shouldn't be a problem. I let my recruiter and MEPs know that I have loans from my B.A and they said it isn't a problem.
