I had LASIK surgery in 2001. I got it done by civilian doctors in Honolulu. Strangely, when at MEPS reenlisting the docs were WAY more worked up about the LASIK than the bad knee that got me discharged from the marine corps. I don't get it. Before LASIK my vision was 20/480...now it's 20/20 but they harangued me like it was a bad thing.
I had always been under the assumption that LASIK was not authorized as well, but I had LASIK surgery performed on me by a Navy Doctor in a Navy facility in San Diego while on active duty in Dec 06. There is a Navy eye clinic across the street from the ASW base in Coronado where they do them at. There is a substantial waiting list but they are doing them.

You wait until you get to the fleet. (You might not be assigned to an area where they do it, not all areas have qualified doctors for it.) They're not going to authorize you to get elective surgery and grant you time off for it to heal while you should be in school training. Only necessitites.
And again, surgery is done on an available basis, with priority given to those who need near perfect vision for their jobs.
You void your contract in a DEP status because you have signed that you will do nothing to change your enlistment qualification status. Surgery carries risks and does change your status (all surgeries require waivers). Don't try to get it and think you can hide it, either. They'll notice at in processing.
