All, thank you for your time and patience. I have used the search feature for similar topics but could not find the specifics I'm looking for. Sorry if this has been covered; if so, please disregard or point to a similar thread.

I am currently in DEP, scheduled ship 20100503. Contract is for AECF, enlist as an E-3. Looking forward to strike for an ET vacancy as this is currently my skill set and job. My question is: Are ET's allowed join or attach into a Seabee command?

I've asked my recruiter this but did not get a straight answer. He asked why I would like to attach to this. He wants me to strike for CTI due to my ASVAB score, 94, and that I speak three languages. I'm scheduled for the DLAB in a few weeks.

My reason for wanting the Seabee is that I want to feel like I'm making a direct impact rather than transcribing messages in front of a computer all day. My employer of six years was disappointed in my enlisting but proud at the same time that I wanted to serve my country. I feel that I owe this country a debt for all that my family has been given; we're first generation immigrants and citizens.

I've been in IT/telecom for some time and am willing and able to perform phone line runs and electrical work. Would love the opportunity to help when and where needed so I'm sure I'll find plenty to do.

seabee commands are all about construction. I was a Seabee for 7 years ET/IT sat in an office all day, work at the Ant farm and COC on our FEX.

I reed your post in the nmcb forum and you dont listen at all. I'll inform you once again. IT/ET only have about 5 billets in the NMCB out of 550-650 people. 95% of a NMCB is made out of Seabee rates. The other 5% are made out of CS,MA,YN,PS,NCC,ET,IT and i might have left out a few more. But the chance of you getting into a NMCB is very slim as the IT/ET are all at least E4 and above. Is was in the Green Machine for almost five years so i think i know what im talking about

First of all, sorry for trying anyone's patience. Second, thanks for your input. Third, relax and lighten up a little.

Hopefully I'll come out of A school an E-4 if I pass all qualifications and testing. If not, I'll make due and get by.

In understand that my questions seem fairly repetitive and awkward. Again thanks, I'll refrain from further questions.

Its not a big deal the only thing is when you ask for advice and just blow it off is annoying. Some of the advice giving to you isnt BS. Honestly my advice for you is to go to the fleet. Going to a NMCB would hurt your advancement chances.
