Hey everyone. I'm 17 and I've recently been looking into the military for what to do after high school. I've determined that I would love to be a SEAL. I realize the difficulty that goes into accomplishing that, but that doesn't deter me.
The thing that does worry me, however, is two recent traffic violations that I have received. I have heard about people getting rejected for crimes that they have committed, and I have also heard that traffic tickets can also cause a person to be disqualified. The two violations I got were Careless Driving and not having my insurance card with me. I realize I was doing something really stupid, and it won't happen again. What I'm asking though, is how much do you think these will hinder my efforts? I am going to go talk to a recruiter tomorrow. As of yet, I have not taken the ASVAB. But I anticipate that when I do, I will receive high enough marks. I don't intend to come across as arrogant, but I have already passed classed like AP calculus and Physics, and I don't expect the ASVAB to be much beyond what I've dealt with before. Besides those two violations, my record is clean. Any thoughts are appreciated. |

Those are minor violations (most likely for the careless driving) and should not hinder your efforts at all.
If you do as well as you think you will on the ASVAB, particuarly having taken AP calculus and physics, don't be surprised when the recruiter tries to push you toward nuke. |

Okay. I actually went and talked to the recruiter today and signed a bunch of stuff, and I should be going up to Portland next week sometime for medical and I believe to take the actual ASVAB. They had me take a pretest today, and I scored an 86. I'm hoping to get atleast 90 on the legit one. They really didn't try to push me towards anything, which was somewhat surprising.
Also, I was able to observe the PT for some other people that are going out for SEAL, as the instructors(?) happened to be coming today. It was pretty interesting, and very useful. |
