whats up guys, I graduated back on the 9th of this month, and about to head to Pensacola for my AD school, good times.

for you guys wondering, boot camp is a joke, a complete and utter joke. I was extremely disapointed and really hope they up the ante physically and mentally. The worst part about boot camp is the anxiety to get the heck out of there haha. One good thing did come out of boot camp though, I got meritoriously promoted so I'm sittin at E3 now, always nice.

Don't worry about it, it flys by, the gas chamber is actually pretty fun. Battlestations, well, I'll be happy to talk to you about that once you've done it yourself haha.

If you guys want, throw some questions out there and I'll try to answer them when I get back on.

p.s. my username definitely doesn't apply anymore haha

While rare, recruits do die during boot camp. Not for something that the RDC did, but more likely due to illness.

While it is sad, yes I do know sometimes people die in boot camp. However these things do tend to gain a life of their own. I booted 21 years ago and there were all sorts of rumors of people dying in the gas chamber, being run over by the commanding officer, hopping the fence into the brig. All sorts of nonsense.

I did not mean any disrespect for our fallen shipmate. But as Sully pointed out it may have been some undiagnosed medical condition or an accident. Maybe a combination of both. This is the military after all and we all go in harm's way in one form or another. Shipboard life can be dangerous as was shown on Carrier where a shipmate was lost at sea. But we also run the risk of being killed each and every day we drive down the road. So yes let us mourn our shipmate but also take care of ourselves and our shipmates so we all get home safe.

I would be interested to see the follow up to that article.

stillthinking,

I have followed your posts and I have a lot of questions for you, I did the same stupid thing you did in Marine boot. I would greatly appreciate it if you could send an e-mail on over to

I have thought for years now that such a decision can't be repaired whatsoever, but your case clearly demonstrates it can. I'd like to know how you did it.

Remember that when his went through, it wasnt when the Navy was exceeding recruiting goals like it is now.

Sorry for putting my e-mail address in there, I didn't know it was against the rules.

I realize it was a different recruiting year, but nonetheless I thought it would be impossible no matter what the recruiting situation was.

+1 on that. I think I managed to die a little bit inside when I went through. The only thing challenging about it was - the rigorous PT (wait there is none), the tough tests they make you take (wait, those were tough?), a little taste of the sleep deprivation you're going to experience in the REAL navy, (Wha? I got 7+ hours a night).

Anywho, congrats! Hope you have a long and fulfilling career.

Thanks for the info on boot camp! I ship for boot december 09 2009 and I was kind of nervous about how hard it was going to be, but now after reading this I am a lot less nervous!

For HCC
It's all about " Can You Follow ORDERS as Given " most of the rest is distraction to see if you can track on orders .
When they say don't xxxxxx , then don't xxxxxx . It doesn't matter if you think good or bad about the order , obey it or be outed . PS same if they say do . Jump in be gungho and really drive hard , Ya only get to go there once . Big Grin
