Is EOD an option or reservists or only active duty? I've searched around on google and asked my recruiter but haven't received an answer.

Might want to take your question to the EOD forum and ask.

Given the length of the training I somehow doubt that a drilling reservist would get orders to go through the pipeline.

Now, there was at one time a two-week training course for reservists that was only for those assigned to EOD units. Eventually it would lead to an NEC. That was before the EOD rating was created. Couldn't say if it still exists or not.

There is a Reserve program. It is somewhat new. Upon the completion of school, you owe one deployment cycle active duty. After that you may return to the Reserves. This would be about 2-3 years active duty.
