Ok, this is joke to be posted as a discount on Military.com as a discount to our service. I personally am a DTV (DirecTV) salesman, and this offer is available to the whole U.S. Not to just Military.com. This is a joke and spits on our active, retired, and veteran service by putting this under as a Discount.

I just spoke with Nigel of Direct TV customer support. He said the above is true. No need to be a member of really ANYTHING to get this discount. Seems someone wants to take credit for something without doing the legwork. Maybe instead of spending their time scamming, they should research new and better discounts that companies are willing to give exclusively to Military.com members. That way they would have a better chance of getting what could be called a true military discount.- but wait. I'm going to put a sticker over the top of my Kroger card and start calling it my "Kroger Military discount card".

Was forwarded the Directv military discount info from my husband's command only to discover that 4 of the 5 Directv representatives that I spoke with didn't have the slightest clue as to what I was talking about! The one representative who was aware of the offer stated it was for NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY - I indicated that that didn't seem appropriate and was transferred to another representative to discuss further. She, too, was unaware of the offer but, after placing me on hold, was able to come back on the line and offer me $10/mo discount on my bill for the next 12 months in appreciation for my husband's service. So, it all worked out in the end!

So I just got off the phone with DTV, which I have only had for a week and a half, only to be informed that they do not offer a military discount, "but let me see if I can offer you some sort of other discount." A few minutes on hold, and I am eligible for 5$off/month for 3 months, or 6 extra HD channels not offered in other packages for 3 months. REALLY? REALLY? SERIOUSLY? FOR REAL? QUIT PLAYIN!!!

So here's my experience, just to put it out there. Ordered DTV, had it hooked up, and everything looks great. Have the NFL Sunday Ticket so I can see my home team, seeing as how I have to travel for work Smile (at a cost of $59.99/month) Then I learn I will not get the games in HD which I already pay an extra 10$/month for HD. So now I have to pay an extra 20$/month for the next 5 months to get my Sunday Ticket in HD. THEEEENNNNN......Last night was the first night of the 09-10 regular season, 09102009. What was I doing? Not watching the game, that's for sure. Noooooo, I was on the phone with DTV complaining how I get "all my local channels" but I don't get NBC. Now I have to submit a waiver to get either the NBC broadcast from NY or LA....at an extra cost of 4$/month (assuming the waiver is approved IN 45 DAYS!!!!). I know, with everything else I spend willingly, it's not a bank breaker, BUT C'MON, don't tell me I have all locals if I don't.

So my advice, if it's that important to you to see your football team, go for it. It seems to be nothing but headaches.
