Hi everyone, I am wondering why Alltel referred me to this site for our military discount on our new contract with them and they are not listed.

I called them and they said the only way they could honor the discount is via military.com and inputting the active duty members .mil email addy.

Sponsor works at NATO and does not have a .mil addy.

Alltel is not listed, they are not willing to let me come into the store to show proof of active duty because it is online only. How do I get my 15% discount?

Thanks in advance!

Laura

Weird, they should ask name, rank, work phone number, address and Co's name to get the discount...at least that's the way other companies work.

I have already been stretched on the rack. I was hoping for something different this time.

He should be able to get an AF e-mail for life address. Or, he could try getting a gimail address.

I never had to give CO, phone # etc, to get our discount with Verizon, just input DH's army work email address. This may sound bad, but maybe the person on the other end at Alltel doesn't know what NATO is and thought that meant military?? It honestly wouldn't surprise me. But if sponsor is active duty, like somebody else mentioned, he should be able to inquire about getting an AF email. If that doesn't work out, maybe you can call them back and ask if they have a general federal employee discount.

Thanks for all the support guys! I called Alltel and explained about hubby's .int vs. .mil and they didn't budge so I asked about the general federal employee discount, still no. Then I was told that I didn't qualify because I wasn't the active duty member and it had to be in his name not mine.

I asked for a supervisor but was told that I would just be told the same thing.

Drama continues LOL; I called my sales rep locally and let him know what was going on and let him know I would be in today. Wish me luck guys =)

Hmm if the account is not under his name then they can denied the credit.A friend of mine just switched the names but I don't know other companies do that.

My saga finally ended LOL. Hubby and I went in last night and talked to our sales rep. It turns out that I can have the discount on the main line. He called his manager. She directed him to the proper place online and he printed it out.

I asked him why he wasn't familiar with his company's policies regarding military discounts in such a large military community. (Norfolk NAS, Oceana NAS, Langley AFB, not to mention all the annexes) and he said he didn't have to because he sent people to customer service like he did with me.

He was getting ready to apply the credit when I read the red lettering on the policy to him. It stated that while all military, active, retired, dependents, vets, etc. are eligible they are not eligable for family line discounts. That is the plan we have.

Long and short, I had him review his company's policy; review my account and made sure I was on the account that benefited our family the most.

He apologized for not being familiar with the discount program and we ended on a better note than when we started.

Again, thanks for your help Glenda, much appreciated. Also, I decided to become a more active member of our forum. So, again, thank you to everyone. (sorry for being so longwinded)

This is Sprint's policy as well. The phones must be in the military members name, not the spouse or any other family member. Makes sense. Didn't help husband, but makes sense.

Glad you got it all figured out Nygfan. Smile

It's not a military discount, it is a Federal Employees discount. ANY federal employee can get this. My husband and I have separate accounts, he got his discount and I got mine due to being a federal employee myself. I only had to provide our work #'s when I called to get our discounts..no other questions asked.

Hi Mustang,

I had asked them about a federal employee discount and it is not offered by them (at least that is what I was told). Mad

Thanks!

Good Morning Ladies and Gents,

1. First establish an email at www.military.com (see log-in home page).
2. Then go to "www.alltel.com" and sign in and change your email on the alltel site to your new military.com email address ie: "xxx@military.com (your units military email address will not work, only military.com email addrsses will work.
3. Then go back to your www.military.com, log-in and confirm your letter you get from alltel which should be in your military.com email inbox. If you do not get this then you have not changed the email correctly to a xxxx@military.com address.

It took me about 2 months before the discount showed up on my bill. My friend tried it and failed to use a military.com address and it delayed his discount until he changed it correctly and confirmed his email letter from alltel.
Hope this works for you as it did for me.
Roger

Does Alltel automatically issue you a discount with the change of an e-mail. Or do you have to print something for them??
Thanks!
