Cingular Wireless will give you a 19% discount if the phones primary account holder in Active Duty. You can call and ask for it or dial 611 on your cingular phone. It's great!!
I tried to get the discount but they told me I have to get a "Foundation Account Number" (FAN) do you know what the FAN is for the Navy or any military member? Did you have one of these numbers when you received your discount? Please email me back at ldo_lcdr@msn.com
i tried and they told me no, this was about 7 months ago when i got back from my tour in korea. i then tried to renew my plan 3 months ago using the AT&T link on military.com picked a plan ordered a phone everything was great until i got my first bill. appearently you cant use the plans from there for family talk with an additional line. so instead of notifying they just charged each line with a $150 plan. then took 4.5 hours to get it down to what it should be. next month bill was messed up again, didnt recieve the discounts i was supposed to, they "fixed it" and now this months bill is messed up again.
that's why i stick to T-Mobile...it gives you a 30% off from your rate plan plus another discount in your text messages and over the limit charges... The form you can download it from their webpage or calling them and mention the government discount...
I just stopped working for att because I am about to ship out. There is actually a 50% off of equipment and accessories discount and 25% of your monthly service charge/rate plan. You do have to have a FAN and there are about a hundred different FAN numbers for the military , so you actually have to get it from human resources along with your check stubs for the last two months and also have to fill out a form (provided by att) and give them a copy of your military id. You need to go into a corporate store to make sure you get it takin care of. Word of advice... the customer service people that answer the phone dont know anything and always screw your account up. Always go into the store when making changes to your account or adding lines.
I went in to upgrade at store and my husband had just joined the army and the lady gave us the discount now we get 15% off our monthly bill. She didn't give me the fan number she done it herself but it shows up on my bill.

I had a terrible experience with Cingular, but the lure of the iPhone brought me back after seven years. Now, I am told (four months after setup and sucking up the $200 early termination from Sprint) that the 19% discount is not applicable with the Unity Plan. The iPhone is not eligible for the discount, so one of the other phones is the "primary" number. I will have to agree with the CSR comment...not their fault, but the walls are tough to get through.
