Today I rec'd my Mil.com news letter. I checked out the section for discounts (air fares). I have been checking for flights to MCRD PISC for several days on most of the services (internet). Much to may surprise the fares in every case where higher in the mil.com air discounts. Am I missing something? How does one get the so called much better rate-thanks to all and may God Bless America.
Sometimes yes they can be higher but they can also have less restrictions meaning that they can be changed or canceled without a penalty. While if you book it outside of that you cannot. you need to read the difference between them. I know Southwest Airlines offers a military discount so look there and sometimes it is better going on the airline specials themselves through their webpage than through the military.com discount.
i know this is off topic, kinda, but i recently got hooked up by a friend with a hotel room while my girlfriend and i were back in my home town on leave. before my paperwork went through for the discount the room was $200/night. i asked if they could just put it under my military discount, for now, and they told me they actually charge more than $200/night Monday-Friday when you flash the military ID. if you know anyone in any travel or lodging, its a big help. I ended up getting my room for a week from my friend, at $40/night in a really nice room.
I agree that the fares listed are a big joke. I checked the fares on Delta Airline and then went to Delta;s site and the exact same fare is listed. Where are the discounts and why are they being called discounts.
Any one know what the Rep name is to fill in for the link which sends me a different site? You all have done better than I have .. you actually found prices!

If you call the airline and book through an agent you can usually get a cheaper fare, I have done that in the past. There tend to be more restrictions on them, but the same ones you would get bookig throuhg orbitz or something like that. As always, airlines are fickle anyway
