When a service member is killed the widow is told she will always be a part of the military family. However, probably due to fear they tend to be shunned by the majority of the community and particularly by many of the other wives who probably don't want to face the fact they it could have just as easily been them. . . and in most cases still could.
So what happens with discounts? If a discount is good for an active duty service member shouldn't the widow be able to utilize it? After all didn't she pay the ultimate sacrifice by losing what she held dearest in the world? No, she didn't die, but I can bet if you asked one or two they'd tell you they wish they had.
