Verizon Wireless offers active military personnel a 15% discount on primary and single lines of service (but not wireless internet services), 25% off accessories and discounts on phones (the wireless internet devices are often included as well...just not the service discount)...and they offer a global express card/domestic express card combo as well, for those of you who are overseas and need internet access).
Just take in your military ID to a store or be prepared with a copy of your latest LES. The access discounts sometimes take a bill cycle or two to show up so just be prepared for that. They will give you the equipment discounts on the spot so long as you provide either your Military ID or LES.

Oh, and Verizon Wireless just announced that they have aquired Altell, so maybe those of you who have had issues with getting your discounts through them will be resolved by Verizon. The change-over isnt supposed to complete until next year, however.

Hope this helps!!

I never even had to take an LES and ID in ... we did it online, using DH's army.mil email address (you input the email address, they send an email to the address to verify it).

They also are super generous/kind with deployment/overseas tour line holds. All I had to do was send them an email with where DH was going and his commander's phone #, and they put his line on hold. If you don't renew it after 12 months they don't say a word, they just drop the line (VERY politically correct/appropriate, given that some Verizon customers aren't going to be coming home, and no windows get hassled with cell phone business). I just called the 1-800 # to activate his line again.

I'm sorry to say this, but I would have to advise ALL of my Veteran buddies to stay away from Verizon. This is one Dvlish evil and dishonest company.
They claim I made over 560 test messages in one month, from a phone that was put away, turned off, for most of the month. I have a work phone so I didn't need my Verizon phone, so I put it away in my dresser drawer. They will not take my explaination and claim that their computer is all the proof they need. What a crock!!
Stay away from them, if you don't tow the line, they will ruin your credit, even though they are the ones that have it wrong.

I think you may have spoken to a not great customer service rep and I would call back and speak to an executive or manager - I had a similar thing happen when my phone was on the fritz, the software was crashing and it sent out a text message every 60 seconds for almost 12 hours straight, and a total of over 24 hours intermittently. It took a day or two of "research" on their part but they did ultimately credit me the difference in my bill so that I didn't have to pay it. I would check out The Consumerist for some executive Verizon contacts, and I'll bet they would handle the problem for you ASAP.

I guess either you or me had the "off" experience, I guess I'm just hoping it's you and that you can find some resolve, because I've always had a great experience with them!

Yes, we also had them for many years, never had a problem until the texting thing.
I did talk to an "Executive" in the "Executive Office" whom flat out refused to listen to my explaination and kept saying their computer print outs were "proof" that I personnally made those calls from that phone. That's nearly 19 text messages a day from a phone that is put away except for the weekend.
Thanks, I will check out that web site.
