Does anyone know where I can find discounts for Disney theme parks and hotels? My husband is coming home for R&R and we would like to take the kids there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
You can get tickets from the base ITT Office, definitely a deal there. Sometimes the office will also offer deals on hotel vouchers, but you need to find out if the hotel has anything available for those times. The military does have a hotel on Disney grounds called Shades of Green, but it can be hard to get reservations there, if you can then you have a great advantage and it is really nice. You can also buy your entry tickets through them if you can't get them on base. Call around to the local hotels and see if they give military discounts too. Some major hotel chains do.
One thing to also keep in mind, is that unfortunately R&R dates can be changed so be prepared for that just in case.
We always got better deals using AAA unless it was the promotion whereby the AD member gets in free and up to I think 5 family members got tickets way cheap.
we're going to disney in june. in february we tried to get reservations with shades of green, but that's pretty impossible for the summer, especially if you stay several days. you can visit their website to see what kind of discounted tickets they offer.
eventhough we didn't get a room there, they made reservations for us, we got a room for under $100 at one of the value resorts, which doesn't bother us because that was our budget and because we wanted to have the "disney experience" (neither my husband nor i have ever been!)
as far as the discounted tickets shades of green offers you can only buy them at shades of green if you're staying at a disney park resort or at shades of green. but it's only $277 for 6 or 7 days (1 adult), I think, and there's less than $10 difference from 4-8 days.
Their package is called the stars and stripes package, and you get the magic your way base tickets, water park fun and more, and the park hopper included in that price. It's a pretty good deal. and we're excited about going to Disney!
For the tickets that you buy at Shades of Green just check them because sometimes they will end the day you leave. But often you can get them at your base ticket office for just as cheap but they don't have an end date, so you can always go back later or give them to someone else.
when shades of green don't have rooms available they will give you what they call referral. They will put you in another hotel inside of disney almost at the same rate..They did that for me for X-mas 2007.Yipeee!!!
Last time I was in Orlando i swung by Shades of Green to get discounted tickets for Universal Studios. SoG normally carried discounted tickets, but were out at the moment. I went on to Universal Studios and asked for a military discount...they let me and my family in for free. Free is much better than a discount!
Its in your best interest to call the parks before you purchase discounts elsewhere.
Thank you for the web site for hero****e.com. That is an amazing program. I tried to get information from the New World o Coke about military discounts. They would not even give me the coutesy of an answer. It is noc eto see that some companies appreciate us. THANKS AGAIN!
You do not need to visit that website for Sea World tickets. Sea Wolrd is owned by Anheuser-Busch. As far as I know AB is letting military in free at all of their parks. They have been doing this for years. You can locate a list of their parks here.

Another good place to try is Armed Forces Vacation Club. Especially if you plan on staying for a week. http://www.afvclub.com/ The rates are excellent.
Again, this is another theme park that has forgotten about the retired. We also have served our country. My husband and I both are retired disabled veterans from the United States Marine Corps. I think the guidelines need to be reviewed. Semper Fi!!!!!!!

It isn't another theme park that forgot. Shades of Green is a military hotel that you can use. It is the same thing as the one you posted about before, in the salute to heroes is Anheuser Busch. Disney doesn't offer anything for the military whether they are AD or not. The only thing you can get is discounted tickets at the base ticket office.

And the military discount for Disney tickets isn't that great. We couldn't get them at a local MWR office, we had to get them at the MWR office in FL (hard to find). Then it was only an 11 cent discount per ticket.
Well i have stayed at shades of green and they are fabulous. My tickets were really cheaper than normal. The hotel is great and the food and any other stuff you buy there is tax free. The rooms were great big and very clean.
We have visited Disney about 10 times in the last 3 years. We normally stay in a condo through the Armed Forces Vacation Club, http://www.afvclub.com . As for tickets, we get them from different places. Call around to ITT offices both near you and near Orlando. There are a few ITT offices in the Orlando area (Shades of Green, Coast Guard, and maybe Navy).
I would also recommend check out http://allearsnet.com for tons of valuable information on Disney that will make your visit even better.

Can't give them to others anymore since they started the biometric scan thing.....but can still use them on your own
