Sweet!

I imagine the recession played into this a bit....

Only issue I see is that I gave my parents my DVC points at the Boardwalk for this year! Ah well, still have the membership itself for discounts on other stuff like rooms too.

Now I just gotta convince the husband that we "have" to go over one of our school breaks and that he "has" to burn leave...... Big Grin!!!

Where did you find the info? SInce it starts the fourth I imagine it will be on their site tomorrow....

Came up with another potential issue that I think I'll have to talk to them about. SInce they ask for it, what if you're not, technically, at a "base"? We're at an NROTC unit right now, about an hour from the closest based. I imagine command would work....I hope anyways.

Found the info on another group it technically hasn't been "released" yet but should be an announcement shortly. I verified it with someone I know that works at DW that is would be happening.

I hope it's true! My parents want us to go to Disney in Fall '09 and that's pretty much the only way we'd be able to afford it.

Any "Official" announcement yet? Don't see anything on Disney's website.

For anybody interested, for a limited time/limited # of rooms, there's also a 40% discount on moderate resorts in Florida. Already booked ours for our trip!

If only the moderate resorts were big enough for us and the kids. With 4 kids, we need a suite (part of why we're DVC members) or one of the cabins at Fort Wilderness. Hopefully they're doing discounts at the deluxe resorts, or more so, the cabins. the cabins at Fort Wilderness were fun.

If not, we'll just stay at the Embassy Suites. We decided we're pulling the oldest out of his final week of school because either we miss school (not an option) or he does. So, we'll go in late May, rooms are only $109, plus at the Embassy breakfast is free....as are the drinks at the nightly managers reception Wink!!!! (Oh yeah! We're hilton honors members as well, a stay like that may bump me from silver to gold status with them.) Not quite as nice as staying on-property, but, It'll be fine in the end.

which moderate are you staying at? When we only had 2 we stayed at the Carribean Beach. Loved it.

The discount is available on a limited basis throughout all hotels. Not all phone operators know about it, so it may take a bit. But, not too difficult.

Checked cabins, suites, and garunteed interconnecting rooms at a moderate. Based on going in May, since it's not value season like when we normally go (January), I think we'll just stick to the Embassy. A bit more of a pain, but I'll deal with it for the free drinks. Wink. It's a "good neighbor hotel" to WDW as well, so it does carry some perks. Just not quite as many.

Shades of Green is nice, but no suites are available.

visited the Port Orleans, never stayed there. I thought it was pretty, though. Have fun with the Parents! Having grandparents there is so much different. It was neat seeing my dad's eyes well up remembering me at my daughter's age wandering around Disney. Added a different dimension to what is just normally us and the kids.

I was wondering how you can get this while on terminal leave? don't they take away yout active ID even though you are still active on terminal. Anahaim will be on the way home and I would hate to miss this, we have never been.

Someone suggested I "lose" my ID and get a new one...but I am not OK with that!

My husband did not surrender his active id until terminal leave was done.

Nope. They can't take it away as long as they're paying him

Just used the deal. For WDW, no matter where you stay go to SOG to get the Passes and activate them at the gates. it's less hassle, and you pay no taxes. activation was easy, and they're very clearly marked as to what they are, so cast members at the gates more often than not say thanks for your service, ask who is serving, etc

For anyone who is interested as well, if you bring a uniform down you can arrange at town hall to lower the flag on Main Street USA at 1700 for their flag ceremony.

I've never been to V&A (most other resturants on property, yes-I love the Coral Reef and France). I did pay for it though. Our best friends did a vow renewal last year at the Grand Flordian and had never had a "real" wedding before, so part of our gift to them was we paid for them to eat there (and watched their three kids and their niece). They absolutely loved it

According to my dad they used to do Champagne brunches on Sundays. He and my mom went (of course, before I was born) when they lived in Florida.

I totally need a babysitter so we can go next time (DH is talking doing the Marathon again in January)
