Your husband can access several free anti-virus programs through his AKO. I'm not entirely sure what the exact rules are for using them, but they're definitely downloadable. I think if he just searches for "anti virus" that it will come up - both Symantec and McAfee are on there.

Ali is right Sandra-both Norton and McAffee are available for download from AKO-but -the downloads only work for military member and DOD civilian accounts-i had two AKO accounts for awhile (im a family member and a DOD contractor) and it didnt work for either of them-and AKO killed my seperate contractor. Technically its a violation of infosec policy for him to give you his log in info-but if you get him to do it while hes home its a one year subscription that can be renewed and you get endpoint protection ( anti virus and fire wall) from norton-not sure about mcaffee since thats not what mike uses. I can also tell you the navigation of how to find it if you need me too.

Thanks, DH is deployed right now, I was just wondering if there was anything out there for my home PC that I was allowed to download and since I can't access his AKO and he's not home guess that's a no go.

Not just for military but there is a great free anti virus program that I have used for a couple of years because I don't like paying for things I don't use with Norton and McAfee. Anyway do a search for Avast and download the free version.

Again, not just for military, but we've used AVG for years. There are both a free and a for-pay version. We've never paid a penny and it seems to work just fine. Do a search for "AVG free download".

One that I recommend to my clients, that is free is Avast Avast is one of the few products that does rootkit checks. Avast includes:
Anti Spyware
Anti Virus
Peer-to-peer protection (limewire type applications)
email protection

Im not a partner of theirs, I just recommend it since I trust it for my clients.

If you need any help installing or setting it up, visit and ask for me, Brad.

Also by the way, we are giving military discounts on all computer services up to 50% off.

Hope this helps!

I love AVAST so far. My son saw it featured in one of his PC Magazine and brought it to out attention. Hope it stays free.
