I just found out this weekend that I have gall stones and that I am going to need to have my gall bladder taken out. I planned on trying to enlist in october, but was wondering if this is going to DQ me. The reason I have to wait until then is because of a DUI I recieved last year. Huge mistake, but that is the reason I am not going back into OCS. A little more history about me...I was accepted into OCS for the Marines but had to leave due to an elbow injury I incurred during training. My body is fully healed and now will enlist because of the DUI in hopes that someday I can get back into OCS. I am just hoping that this new surgery that I need will not DQ me. Anyone have any insight on this? I appreciate all your thoughts and input.

Removal of your gall bladder with remove the problem permanently. You may be deferred (temporarily DQ'd) for a period of about 6 months following surgery - to be sure you are healed and there are no complications, and must be fully discharged from any further follow-up - but this one issue should not permanently DQ you.
Good luck on the surgery and the enlistment --
