What "sux" is that you could have gotten someone or yourself killed! |

Normally, one DUI is waivable, but in this day and age, moral waivers are hard to come by when more qualified folks without issues or needing waivers are flooding the recruiting and officer selection offices. |

You should tell your recruiter, especially since you are going to BCT in January. This law violation could prove to be a showstopper for you and prevent you from being able to leave for BCT. |

Jason has asked if he can get into Marine Corps Officer Candidate School with a DUI/DWI.
From the drift I get from reading questions on this board, I think it's an application process like the other branches. That is, unless you get a commission from the Naval Academy or Navy ROTC on the Marine Corps option. Or a commission through the Platoon Leaders Class. So Jason, do you have a college degree? And do you think you are otherwise qualified and competative? If I was still recruiting and you came in my office, I'd tell you that you could apply for OCS. They would really take a hard look at the DUI, so you'd really have to be competative otherwise. As for 22916358, from what I read he's asking Jason when he's going to basic. Unless you read in a different topic he said he's enlisting in January. Oh, and BTW. I had to do reports of civil arrests when a member was arrested as an administrative duty sometimes. This was when I wasn't serving in recruiting. Every one I ever did was for DUI. And of every one I did, the arrest occured after midnight on Saturday or Sunday morning. Something I couldn't help but notice. |

judgement friday the 13th - plead down to a DUI. a violation, NOT a misdemeanor. no probation, just a fine of $555, 90day suspension of license. I know that this does not portray the best of my character, but i want a chance to be an awsome army nurse. I'm told that im a great nurse on civ side...I know a bit, however I still have alot to learn, alot i cant wait to learn, and sum to teach! I hope i receive the priviledge of serving in the US Army Reserves.

BTW sir, I am a female. Thanks for your posts everyone. Yes, those are the busy days I'm sure as far as breaking the law in this manor is concerned. It stinks that it is more common. Im pretty ashamed and embarrassed. Not a very good role model right now...

SgtLtUSMC- I am very well aware, that someone could have been hurt-- or worse. I have remorse, in fact feel like a real POS. I have lost a lot of self respect that i've worked years for. Yes, thankfully no one was involved. I am quite thankful that I was pulled over over a turning signal, because how many of us have drank and drove and thought we were invincible? I am going to learn from this, and use the moral and common sense that i should have that night.

I'm shocked as a nurse you did this. Many nurses I know are scared to death of it from seeing what can happen That said, do you have a BSN? Not me, but I turned 21 while pregnant. |

I believe you have to have an RN to be commissioned. |

Gil is correct about needing to be an RN to commission.
The Army does have enlisted nurses, 68WM6. I don't know about the other services. |
