I have talked to recruiters from several branches and having trouble narrowing down. My main question is what is the best branch for women to join and why? I was looking into linguist/interpreter, intelligence, human resources, or public relations/media jobs.. Also, I love a challenge and I love working out!
Also, money is also an issue, as I have student loans and credit cards to pay off and am also looking to further my education so that is another reason I am thinking about joining the military.
Will someone please help me narrow down my choices??
The Army is giving the largest bonuses.
The best fit is the one that offers YOU exactly what you want. that could be the Air Force, or it could be the Marines. Only YOU can decide which Branch offers you the best opportunities. your gender has nothing to do with it, so long as you are professional and pull your own weight.

Forget what every poster is saying..the best branch to serve is the branch that will fully train you to defend your country! Remember when you join the military, your ultimate purpose is to defend democracy! Also the best branch is the branch that you pick. If the United States military had a 'best branch" then everyone would be in that branch! No one can narrow your choices down but you. Everyone on here will give you information about which branch offer the best bonuses, which branch has a better quality of life, which one has the most jobs, etc, etc, etc! Talk with all the branches. All the branches have the jobs that you are talking about and will give you the training but ask yourself, "What if I end up in Iraq and A-Stan doing my job, what if I have to pick up a weapon and fire at the enemy?" "What if I have to go on a convoy?" "What if I have to actually defend democracy!" I know you will hear everyone say that their branch isn't over their and your job doesn't intel this or that, but Every BRANCH OF SERVICE IS OVER THERE! Go with the branch that will prepare you for your primary job of being a basic servicemember first and your MOS second. Remember you are a servicemember first and your job(MOS) is second! Chose wisely because you would rather have the skills and not need them than to need the skills and not have them!

The ONLY branch of service without any restrictions on what job/specialty/rating a woman can have is the Coast Guard. There is literally no job in the Coast Guard that is barred to women.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my time in the Army and think it's the best, but I encouraged my daughter to think of the USCG and the Coast Guard Academy when she was considering colleges.
Figure out what you want to do. If you can do that in all branches, look at which branch offers you the most and which branch YOU can serve best.
With your strong financial need and love of physical challenge and desire for more education and training at govt. expense,I'd definitely say the Army is your best bet to satisfy all your needs and goals. If your free to join now,you can get an excellent enlistment bonus and college loan repayment options to pay off the debts your facing. The Army has many jobs you'ld like in the intelligence and communications field. With your already accumulated college credits, you will start at a higher rank and paygrade(up to E-4 with a degree)and may qualify faster for officer training for a rewarding career.Call a local recruiter soon to set up an apointment to discuss all your options in person.Don't wait to long, the current high levels of bonus money might end very soon.Good luck and tell us all how it goes dear.

I agree with Mrs, it doesn't matter what your gender is joining one of the five Armed Forces. You need to be concerned with what job you will enjoy and what service will offer you the best path to do that job. Each of the 5 services is the best for women! Find the service that has the job you want to do. CPO Kalbach
Thanks.. I was looking into Army as well. Also, does anyone know which branch allows you to advance in rank the fastest?? Or are they all pretty much the same?
I appreciate your answer. My main concern is getting the job I want.. that will probably be the deciding factor of which branch.
flyboy, when is the cutoff date for this enlistment bonus you are talking about?
the quick ship bonus comes into play if you ship before the end of September. Any other bonuses could end today, or still be in play next year. they literally change daily.
Things to be aware of: any bonuses you get will NOT be paid out right away. In most cases you have to at least finish basic training and all schools, and depending on the length ofthe school, you are talking months and possibly a year or more. Secondly, bonus are not paid out in one lump sum if over a certain amount. I want to say $10,000(might be $20K) or less: one lump sum, anything over that is paid out half up front and the rest in annual installments over the length of your enlistment. expect 25-28% taken off the top for taxes.
Your line scorers on the ASVAB determine for each Branch what you are eligible. Then you must factor in what the Branch needs. say you qualify to be a Helicopter Mechanic, which is your dream job, but the only Branch that has any openings for that in the next year is the Navy, but it doesn't offer any sign on bonus for it.
You need to decide what your priorities are: whether it is the actual Job, amount of bonus regardless of what you end up doing for 4 years, or a Specific desire to serve in one particular Branch.

My Main goal is to get a job that I will enjoy. What are the line scorers on the asvab? And I thought you dont take the ASVAB until you get to MEPS? And if so, by then havent you already decided on a branch?
Okay, I have a personal question. When it is that time of the month, which is best to use while in BMT pads, or tampons?
