Ok my concerns are with my past stupidity. I got an Illegal consumption ticket when I was 16, then turned around and got a DUI when I was 18, and another when I was 19. That looks really great doesn't it? =/ But none of them are Legally "convictions." I can't remember what they are considered, but community service, and probation means that they are not convictions. I don't know if that matters.
I really don't need a lecture on that ignorance. I've paid my dues. 21 now, 22 in may. I drink maybe once a month, and not heavily. Obviously don't drink and drive, yadda yadda. But I assume that's irrelevant.
I was wondering what my chances are for getting in? Are waviers required for this I assume? Are those still on hold? Other than that I'm in great physical shape. Strong running. Good weight, fairly muscled still. I had to take the ASVAB back in high school. Scored a 90-something. I have an associates in English, and would like to put in an enlistment term before finishing up my degrees.
Obviously I need to talk to a recruiter, but as I've seen a few past/present are already on here. Just would like to get some rough idea before I go in there, and get shut down.
I don't know a lot about this but from what I've read up on the military has met and exceeded its enlistment goals so bonuses have mostly gone away as well as the availability of waivers. And for DUI's you would need waiver's. If you're able to get waivers for, as you put it, your "stupidity" then your associates will help you going in. Your ASVAB score sounds good and being in shape and getting a high APFT score will help you as well. There's a lot of guys with experience here who I'm sure will come along and be able to give you all the information you're looking for. From what I've read though it will be pretty tough to get the waivers you need.
Any mods or guys with more experience feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong or you want to expand.
If you got community service and probation, that is considered a conviction to the military. An illegal consumption at 16 probably wouldn't be a problem. Two DUI's will be. I don't think your chances are very good at this time. I'm sure one of the recruiters will be along soon with their opinion.
It's probably not going to happen for any other branch either. That's three alcohol related incidents in a three year period which indicates a pattern and a tendency not to learn from mistakes.
It's good for you that you've cleaned up your act a bit over the last couple of years but you need a new plan now.

Unfortunately, you took awhile to learn your lesson. As was said, moral waivers are far and few in between these days.

Not for the military it isn't.
Good on you for cleaning up, but it's too late for the military. You need a backup plan.
=/ The odd thing is, I was talking to my cousin who was a Guard soldier that got deployed, and got back a few months ago. One of the chopper pilots apparently had a felony(not sure for what) and a DUI alcohol, that still managed to get it, and surprisingly quality for chopper school.
Is there no option short of lying? And no, I wont lie to get in. I've made my mistakes, I don't need anymore tarnishment on my record. However I would like to serve a term =/
Also, by irrelevant, I meant that the current habit changes are irrelevant for enlistment, as it's obviously not able to be proved.

He said, and-then-he-said. Etc.
Anyways, what was waiverable when said-pilot entered the Army is not waiverable now.
