It ' s official, DD-214's are NOW Online. The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214s online: http://vetrecs.archives.gov/ This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214 for employment purposes. NPRC is working to make it easier for veterans with computers and Internet access to obtain copies of documents from their military files. Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased former military members may now use a new online military personnel records system to request documents. Other individuals with a need for documents must still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the online web site. Because the requester will be asked to supply all information essential for NPRC to process the request, delays tha normally occur when NPRC has to ask veterans for additional information will be minimized. The new web-based application was designed to provide better service on these requests by eliminating the records center's mailroom processing time.
No you can not. You can talk to a recruiter and he can put you in for a wavier. I have to ask Why would you want to join the national guard? The Regular Army pays more and you get better benefits. Believe me my husband was national guard before he went active and after basic and AIT the benefits suck.
I think the original post is a bit misleading. From what I experienced just 5 minutes ago, the DD 214 isn't online. While there is an online "application" that you can fill in to make your request, you have to print out a signature verification form and mail or fax it in. Once that is complete, you still have to wait for it to be processed, researched and mailed to you; it is not viewable online.
If someone else had more immediate results, please let me know.
It all depends how big is your debt. We have a few people in my unit who joined while they had unpaid tickets, but because they got waiver by promising that they will pay off first month of their service. If you have more than 250, then yes it might be a problem, otherwise you may join with waiver, but you need talk to your recruiter about that. Hey why do you want join National Guard? Join Active Navy or Air Force.
I work as the BN Career Counselor here, and i am being asked if i can obtain DD214s for various different reasons. Has anybody else been able to get their hands on other peoples 214s? If so, what do you have to do? Is it different than the application request form posted above? Thanks
This post is for people to request their DD214's via the internet. It is not here for people to make comments about joining other services or asking recruiting questions. If you want to know how to request a copy of your DD214 then go to the posted website. CPO Kalbach
