I'm a Navy Veteran. I served 4 years, got out with an honorable discharge at the end of my first enlistment. I was a BM2, have been out for 2 years. My RE code is RE-R1.

I've been entertaining the idea of joining the Air Force but before I go too deep into thought about it, I have a couple quick questions as to if I'd even be eligible.

I'm 30 years old (female), married with 3 kids (my husband is prior Navy as well).

After we both got out, we had some hard times financially and ended up having to file for bankruptcy. Is this an automatic DQ? I've no doubt it will have an effect on any security clearance.

Now--supposing I have no problems getting in--how does prior service rank with a break in service equate (typically) to a new branch?

Any help is appreciated. I know each situation is different and a recruiter would be able to best answer my questions, but like I said, I'm only entertaining the thought right now.
