Hello I am in the process of joining I took the asvab got a 35 had no GED or diploma but was told I would get into the GED plus program. But the score rose to a 50.

My recruiter told me about a week ago that it went back down to a 31 and to hurry and get my GED. I told him I had taken the test and would get my results in 3 weeks. He said great your good to go call me when you get em.

HE said for every person that gets a 70+ on the ASVAB one person with a lower score is aloud in.

Is this true or is this just another ******** story from my recruiter. I have been told they are not even accepting GED holders with college credits in the NG.

Please help me people. I want to serve my country and be part of the great and respected 11b MOS. Thanks peace

Yes but mine said in 2-3 weeks they will be accepting them with scores as low as 31's. Instead of 50's.

Is this true?

who knows. and who knows HOW MANY they wil take if it is true. or for how long. there may literally be a ONE day at MEPS where it's an option.. and that day.. may be 3 hours long

Besides you don't want to aim for the minimum.. that basically tells the military you really don't care about being your best.

I took the asvab twice 2nd time getting a 28. So im not just trying to get in with the minimum.

Also I forgot to say that I want to join either 11b or 19d which both you only need a 31 to be.

Thanks for all your reply s people if you got anymore info please post

So honestly, is someone that has a HS Diploma and scores a 25 on the ASVAB better then someone with a GED that scores over 50-60 on the ASVAB ?

I didn't have a choice but to get my GED, I had to quit school to get a job to help my mom after my parents got divorced. I started college and screwed up by withdrawing from school without letting them know and now I owe a huge debt to my former college. I can't get into any schools other then the garbage tech schools like Remington that sell you a degree for $45k that you end up coming out and making $12/hour.

Joining with a GED right now is my only shot to get back into school and move on with my life. I've wanted off and on since I was like 12-13 to serve, just like my dad, his dad, his dads dad, ect, ect.

I have a little conditioning to do but my plan/goal is to join the NG and go to school while I serve my 2 years then go full-time active with a higher rank.

There's a problem for you. You no longer have a 35 AFQT but a 28 so you don't even qualify for 31. The most recent score is the one that counts.

You need to get into college or Job Corps and get the needed credits (or hours for Job Corps) to qualify you as a tier I candidate. Right now you are, I believe, tier III and it will be almost impossible to get in from that category.
