I got a quick question on the drug test at MEPS. If you test hot for THC and you had said you don't smoke, what will happen to you? I know there is at least a 45 day waiting period to try again, but if you already took the oath of enlistment, are you obligated to go again in 45 days or is your commitment cancelled because of the hot test?
The reason I'm asking is not because I smoke, but I've been around it and I have heard that 2nd hand smoke can cause a person to test hot. I'm also looking at possibly switching services if I do test hot.

For Coast Guard if a person is positive UA at MEPS for another service they won't be joining the Coast Guard, same if they were processing for the Coast Guard. CPO Kalbach
well the first thing you need to do is drop your friends,stop seeing them,they want to take a path you dont need,and weather or not you test hot shouldnt be a factor in which branch your in,all the branches have the same belief in drugs..not tolerated! if you test hot at meps then you are temp.DQ you need to wait,you need to get a few home drug tests and drink lots of water before you even go to MEPS,but the first thing you need to do is drop your friends..cold turkey!
First off drop the second hand smoke crap. If your in a car hot boxing with your friends, you might as well be hitting the blunt because the car is filled with smoke and ever breathe is like taking a hit anyway.
Other than that your not intaking enough second hand smoke to fail a drug tests so if you do fail then you smoked, don't try the second hand excuse it won't work.
You know you wanted into the military so you should not be around marijuana in any shape or form so you can accompilish your goal of enlisting.
Fail the test at MEPS and you've got a 45 day wait, a failed UA on your record, and pissed off recruiter who is going to catch hell for sending you down there hot in the first place.
Don't smoke or hang around anyone who does for 30 days and drink water and hurry up and wait till your system is clean, then goto MEPS.

Here's how it is for the Army:
If you take the DAT test and you are positive for THC, your contracti s voided and you now have a 45 day wait from the day the results came back.
45 days later, you go back to MEPS and retest. If you pass, the recruiter submits a waiver, runs police/court checks everywhere you've lived, worked, and went to school (and had a law violation). Once approved, you can try to enlist again.
It doesn't matter what branch you went down to physical for, we can all see the results on a USMEPCOM Form 680-ADP.

At meps, however I think the Navy has little home tests in thier office, possibly the Army too. If you tell them you smoked, they are testing you before meps to make sure they are not wasting time and money.
i have a similar question..i took a **** test at my Navy recruiters office prior to the day i took my physical at meps...i got my results back today and it came back positive for THC...when i took the test the day before at my recruiters office it was negative...I DO NOT SMOKE AND NEVER HAVE SMOKED...how is this possible and what can i do to retake the test...
