I recently went into MEPS for processing into the navy. They cleared me for medical and then after going back the the navy liason, they disqualified me for the tattoo on the back of my neck. It is a small infinity symbol and it shows in a collared shirt which is why the navy disqualified me.
I was considering removing it but it seems to be very expensive and takes a long time.
I really want to join the military..Is there any other branch of the military that would allow me to join without having to remove the tattoo?
Please any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You need to watch BattleStar Gallatica. The Infinity symbol is a gang symbol there for a religious sect aligned with the Cylons that believe in only one God. So if the reviewer happens to be Mormon and follows that series of Science fiction novels....
Understand it is science fiction and TV but you have to realize that some tatoos have a dual meaning. This also can be viewed as a sideways 8 which is a real life gang symbol....unfortunately for you.
If the other Service Branches view it as a gang symbol......your not getting into them. Depends on who looks at it and what they think.

The fact that it is visible in a collared shirt probably will keep you out of any service.
Keep in mind that the remaining scar from getting it removed also cannot be visible so you need to go to a good dermatologist to ensure there is no scar after removal.
They didn't think it was a gang symbol. It was just the fact that the tattoo could not be covered with the collared shirt.
Does the army disqualify people for neck tattoos?

You could try using Wrecking Balm to lighten it enough to be acceptable.

At this time, the Army will most likely take you as long as you are otherwise qualified and the tattoo is not forward of your ears or on the skull.

I have been using Wrecking Balm but it is taking too long. lol
Thanks, I may talk to the Army soon and see if I can join with the tattoo
