If a boy joins the military for a certain MOS and then finds himself shoved into an INFANTRY unit, what are his recourses? Do we hire a lawyer, go to the IG or go to a Senator? He is a college grad, did well in Basic and AIT. ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR THE BS BUT FRAUD.
A soldier can be assigned to any unit that needs their MOS. My new MOS is 74D and I can be assigned to any type of unit. There is no fraud involved. Every division has almost every MOS in it. In my company, which is an Engineer company, we have admin, supply,CBRN, medics, heavy equipment, and a couple others. Most company-level units will have most of these jobs, and may have other support jobs based on their needs.
Also, please recognize this soldier as a man. He not only has passed BCT, but graduated college. I would assume that he is fully capable of being considered a man and has the ability to make decisions.
EDIT:
I just reread the post...I needed to edit some information.
It appears this "boy" isn't man enough to take care of his own actions. What the hell did he think he was getting himself into when he enlisted? We aren't Burger King and can't have it his way. He's going to have to grab what little cajones he has at suck it up. Nobody gets pushed into the infantry. Getting assigned into a Grunt unit (admin, supply, comm, etc.) is different.

As far as the Army is concerned thats one of the best branches to be in for promotion and advancement and choice of future career paths. A lot of Infantrymen these days have one year of college if not more.
Sounds to me like "the boy" boloed his own MOS and was assigned according to the needs of the Army- something that is in every Military contract. Hopefully he will square his act away and soldier!
The way I read it was that he was assigned to an Infantry unit. Hell, for all we know he could be in a BSTB in an Infantry Division, and nowhere near a line unit. They were very vague in their posting and I bet it is because they do not have the whole story.

Indeed.
Infantry units need truck drivers (88M). Infantry units need Human Resources Specialists (42A). Infantry units need Supply Specialists (92A). Infantry units need Signal Support Systems Specialists (25U). Just about every MOS in the Army is needed in an Infantry unit.
Of course, this is also the case for just about any type of unit.
I think the OP has an unfortunate misunderstanding about the structure of military units.
What MOS did the "boy" (your terminology and not ours) sign up for and what did he end up training for? Is it an MOS that an Infantry unit would have absolutely no use for (I'm sure there are a few but probably not many)? In what way did the Army violate their contract with the "boy"? And when is the "boy" going to be a soldier and man up?
