Hello,

Upon reading many of the posts here I wonder now that the new fiscal year has began if I should take my chances with attempting to enlist in the Navy. I am a 25yr female with a 9 month old and a husband. I had planned on enlisting a few years back but became pregnant.

I have one misdemeanor on my record and no other issues. There was a set aside of judgment (which I understand does not clear it under the military) When I took the ASVAB in school a few years back, I got a score of 82. Right now, I do not meet the weight requirements, but do not plan on going to the recruiting office until the weight, and or tape test meeting the standards.( I am not very far, just getting the stubborn baby weight off is an issue)

Reading things here, it seems even the smallest of waivers will not be processed and due to the economic standpoint the country is in, no jobs or sailors are needed. This is very discouraging to me, I would be proud to serve and retire in the military. Does anyone have any ideas when things may turn around ? Would I be just wasting my time talking to a recruiter?

No. It's not like, if you got a medical DQ.
They turn on and off waivers at will. What they wont waive today they might waive 6 months from now.
Disclaimer- I have no idea what your offence was, so I cant say if it is a DQ'er

I have a false statement misdemeanor for filing unemployment benefits incorrectly. Even though I didn't intend to file incorrectly, per state law, it is my responsibility to ensure my wages are reported correctly

Basically my claims were not being reported about my employment which was maybe a few hours a week at a concert venue. The information was on my application for unemployment, but when I filed weekly the 30 to 50$ here and there , they were not recorded.

This happened a few years ago, which I paid the restitution ,the fine and complied with everything that was asked of me. If you do not report every dollar earned each week it is a separate charge. I felt like such an idiot when the Attorney General sent me the information about my overpayment, which I got two years after the fact.

I truly hope so. I spoke with a recruiter and he stated to go down to his office when I am ready, and bring the court documentation and everything else.

Well, from my talk with the recruiter, he told me unless I want to try special ops or nukes, I can't get in right now, nor would I if I required a moral waiver. He said his CO will review the conviction and let me know.
