My husband is in the process of joining the army and therefor I will be doing the budgeting. I am signed in to his account at the moment because for some reason the one I just created won't let me post a question. I have been reading many of the posts in these forums to get info for both of us but still have a question about initial pay. When he is in basic training the recruiter said he would be receiving BAH however after reading through many different threads I am not sure if he will get full BAH or only the difference between single and with dependents. If someone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it.

I am under the impression that he would recieve BAH w/dependents..though to be smart budget without dependents and stash the difference in a savings account for a rainy day
Thank you for responding. I was just noticing that people were saying that when they were stationed somewhere that their family could not join them they were only getting that 200 dollar or so difference and not the part for the enlisted member. Oh and this is still the OP my account finally came online lol.
he will receive BAH with dependents. However pay and BAH will be roughly 4 weeks behind.
All pay is paid retro actively and BAH is paid 1/2 month behind.
example- pay periods are the 15th and the 1st. so from 1-15 the pay is paid on the 15th, for work done from 16-30 (31) is paid on the 1st.
BAH is paid the same way, 1/2 on the 15th and the balance on the first.
but it can 4-6 weeks for pay and allowances to start for BCT.
Also My Dh and I choose to live apart, and he gets 100% of his BAH, I am not sure where you read that incorrect information.
BAH DIFF is only for members e4 and below who reside in the barracks and pay child support.
Ah, thank you for clearing that up lol, as I said I have been reading through many threads to find info. So, if he ships for training on the 10th of Feb we should see pay by or around the 15th of march if my calcs are right. Just trying to get a plan in place so we can stay on top of the bills and not get too far behind. Thanks for the info it is much appreciated.
