Hello, I am a nurse that is looking into joining the military. My question is that i am hard of hearing, would that exclude me from joining?? I do not need the use of hearing aids, and have no prob doing my job.
Depends on how bad your hearing is. Everyone is given a hearing test at MEPS as part of the physical. So if you p*** that your good to go. If not, I'm not sure on the chances of getting a waiver for hearing, but I'm sure one is possible.

Thanks
I would agree: "Depends on how bad your hearing is". Have you been tested for it?
Also depends on service branch and recruiter on how it my be handled... My recruiter (AF) sent me through flight medicine because of my age and medical history. I still received a DQ which I am waiting a response but from my readings of some peoples experiences with MEPS I still had a better experience.
The long and short actually since every case is different you really have to talk with a health professions recruiter. Also might as well gather all your medical records and if a waiver is needed get ready for a wait...

1. Depends on the service you are wanting to join, and the likelyhood of that service worsening your hearing over time. All you can do is contact an Officer recruiter and see. CPO Kalbach
