No doubt you are familiar with the movie "We Were Soldiers." You may recall that at the height of the battle for the Ia Drang a young correspondent appears by helicopter and ends up fighting side by side with the besieged American troops, risks his own life to recover wounded Americans, yet still finds time to get their stories. That young correspondent was Joe Galloway and his actions were real.

Galloway is well-respected among top military officers and former officers. Stormin' Norman Schwartzkopf called him "The finest combat correspondent of our generation — a soldier's reporter and a soldier's friend."

I'd say Galloway has proved his bona fides. He's seen the elephant, as the Romans used to say. He's spent his life putting his life on the line and dedicating himself to learning about all things military.

Now, if you can set aside the ad hominem criticisms for a moment and tell us what in your learned military opinion is wrong with what Galloway wrote, I'd like to know. I think he makes a lot of sense and has put one more nail into the coffin containing all the evidence of the Bush Administration's massive incompetence and sheer pusillanimity.
