I'm about ready to retire my ancient HP printer and would like the ability to print, copy and scan both photos and slides. I do not need FAX capabilty.

Anyone have any recommendations? I'd appreciate knowing about any bad experiences as well so I can avoid those units.

Thanks.

Thanks. Good site. I have also looked at C-NET reviews and a few other sites. I still like to get input from individuals with personal experience, as it is easier to ask them questions about certain features.

Funny this should be a topic.. I got a Canon MP160 w/my PC I bought back in Oct. It was free and I needed a scanner. So, it serves both ends of the candle. It prints pictures on 4x6 stock well (not as good as my 8 color monster HP) but good enough for me. Now, the ink just ran out so I was going to have them refilled at walgreens.. 25 bucks but had to wait 2 days. Replacement carts run about 50 bucks for both at SAMS. I seen a Lexmark cheaper for 28 bucks off www.dealspl.us so figured what the heck, it was a 3 in 1 and specs looked just like the canon. I've put my HP on another PC that also uses a monster canon all-in-one laser. They have gotten so cheap now, why spend 50-70 bucks on color cart's if you can just get a cheap one for everyday use that is half the price? Nothing wrong with having a nice one just for pictures but for everyday b&w printing? It's like getting a Hummer to drive to work with a VW rabbit will do. Big Grin

Oh, and the MP160 is plugged into my router (which is also a print server) so the kids can print out homework.

How good is the scan quality on each of them?
