Does anyone know how I can get a CD key for a game that I already have installed on one computer so that I can put it on another computer. I have already tried the company that made the game and of course they want you to pay 15 dollars for a new key.
I am hoping someone can tell me that it is stored within the computer and how to find it so that I can write it down where it was SUPPOSSED to be in the first place. The company said it should be on a SMALL white square but with 2 kids it was more than likely written on and then recycled.
You can try searching for one online if you dont need the game for online or multiplayer. Lost my Homeworld 2 key and just got one that some one posted online.
Wife through away my all my cd keys 8( thought they where trash /wrist.
Spudnik - Thanks, I will try that when I get home and let you know if it worked.
eaclark - I do want it for online, the multi-player maps are huge. I thought I had ALL my CD-keys copied onto the desktop comp in a word document but missed a couple.
The game is Frontlines: Fuel of War and the map sizes make the 64 player maps on Battlefield 2 look small.
Plus it's lots of fun, my desktops graphics card is going bad and can't handle the game, and with the transfer to a cutter this summer I have a new laptop that I want to try it out on.
Well, I tried the original link last night and it works great for Microsoft stuff but nothing else.
That got me to thinking and doing some googleing and I came up with 3 other FREE key finders and one to pay for. All of the free ones listed a 50 character key, I need a 25, and the first 25 characters didn't work. The one to pay for listed the first 4 characters and then said "wanna see the rest of it pay us 25 dollars". I can buy a new key for 10 so that one is out.
spud - I did find that one and used it, gave the 50 char key. I am gonna play around with them some more and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the help.
eaclark - I am going to the Steadfast in Astoria Oregon.
I am looking for the product key # for soldier of fortune 2 for PC. I have not downloaded it on my computer so the site that was recommended did not help, but was good and I downloaded it.
I know the I am NOT. I have the purchased game but the cd-key is lost and where it SHOULD have been on the game book it is NOT there. The company said it should be on a SMALL piece of paper. I can find the 50 character key on my computer but I only need 25 characters, so it really didn't help to much. I am still hoping I can figure it out though.
As for "looking" for a cd-key that has never been installed on my comp. Wouldn't happen, I don't get into that illegal type stuff. I can't get the key I am looking for from an old computer then I just don't need to play that game. (Even though I REALLY want to)
I am still looking and getting more and more frustrated to the point of almost buying a new key for 10 bucks. 60 bucks total on one game though is kind of crazy.
Thanks for another link. I will try that one when I get a chance.
