I'm looking to get a new camcorder soon and all the new models of HD camcorders are coming out in April (at least Panasonic and Canon) and Sony's just came out today. I want to get one with a flash drive, not a HDD. Anyone have any opinions on HD camcorders?
I recently bought the Canon HV30 for under $600. Last year it was the talk of the camcorder market, offering things normally found in pro models. It has cinema mode, 24f recording, 60p recording, a shoe for external mics, etc. It records HD and you have the option of HD DV tape or flash media. The picture quality of it is unbelievable. Definitely a good camcorder. The advantage of the HD on tape is that it wont "memory hog" your computer when you upload the footage. You have to be careful with flash camcorders and your computer. Be sure that it offers a way to get the footage to your computer via firewire, or else you may have issues. A good place for detailed reviews of camcorders is CNET.COM.
