I know this is a shot in the dark, but never underestimate a Coastie...

I have a vintage arcade game that needs a motherboard... The number on the old board is: LVB001 B and under that is: 100 38-87... These machines originally were made in the 30's or 40's I believe, and then reproduced in the 60's and 70's... Almost 100% sure mine is a reproduction...

The machine is 7'2" tall and is called a Love Tester... You stick a quarter in it, squeeze the handle and a bell goes off.... About ten seconds later a light lights up and shows what kind of lover you are... I keep getting "Worn Out - Try Again"...

One other problem I'm having with it is (It has 10 light bulbs that flash) one of my lights just stays on and will not flash like the others... I've changed bulbs and checked wiring but can find nothing wrong... Any ideas?

I can't seem to put a picture on here, but if you checked EBAY, there are two of them on there at this time...

Thanks for anything

Gunk

You may be on to something... I had a good looking neighbor lady come over last night, put a quarter in, and she got "Tonight's The Night"... She then laughed and left... Big Grin

Larry,

It would be nice to know who made the motherboard. Back in the day when I worked with these things at a vending machine company, we had a guy who would hook up the board to various testers and scopes to check them out. You might try one of your local vending machine (pinball, juke box, pool table) places. Most of the guys there will likely be clueless how to repair the old school stuff. However one of their retired employees might still have the know-how. The other option is to locate one of the several old arcades places that cater in old machines. I just read a couple of days ago in an American Airlines mag that was in the back seat pouch there are several out there that only have old school machines and you can pay a few bucks to go in these places and play the old pieces. I'm sure they have the electronic mechs who specialize in the older boards. My dad did (I worked at the same place he did) at one time but he is past his prime mentally. Another option is to get ahold of one of the trade mags and see what's in the classified section.

Also....it could be the connecter contacts are dirty. Try to clean them off with electronics cleaner.

Actually we used to use a pencil eraser on some of the early 'daughter' boards that plugged into the mother board slots on our computers.

Thanks for the info John... I will fix this thing...Just don't know how long it will take me... As far as a maker for the board, there are no markings other than the numbers I gave... I've seen the inside of 3 or 4 of the machines and they are all different...

I actually worked for a company from 69-71 that dealt with mostly pinball games... Have always had an interest in them... Just a cool piece, and the price was right...

The picture you posted is really close... Looks like a reproduction as far as I know...

Thanks again...

Stan,

Now that you mention it...I've done the pencil eraser trick too.

Larry,

I lifted the pic from Ebay. We always had some type of arcade machine around the house to play with growing up. I could kick myself (as usual) for not taking the opportunity to collect the old back glasses to some of the older machines I ran across when I worked there.

FWIW

History channel ?? has a program "Pawn Stars" that might be of help. Occasionally they will take in some piece of equipment that needs restoration. They have a company somewhere in the Las Vegas area that does their work. Never paid much attention to the show, but may be a lead to check out.
